Welcome to our family's journey

Welcome to our journey – a space where we share our story as a family raising two incredible sons with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

Not so glamorous Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day looked a little different this year. Usually, all of us would be dressed in our Sunday best, heading to church, soaking up the sunshine, and gathering with the whole family. But that morning started at 1 a.m. with Dawson getting sick. Him and I watched Moana 2 and stayed up until 3/4 a.m., with him getting sick every 20 minutes.

It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t quiet. But it was real. Daniel and Mason headed to church and the cookout while Dawson and I stayed home.

By the afternoon, he managed a little toast and started acting more like himself. And through it all—between the cleanups and cuddles—I got something I don’t always make time for: stillness, closeness, and those long, quiet snuggles that reminded me just how sweet and crazy this season of motherhood really is.

Yesterday wasn’t picture-perfect, but it was full of love. And I’m so grateful for these wild, wonderful boys who made me a mom. Here is our not so glamorous picture from tonight after a workout.. this is real life and I love every chaotic moment.
