The Lord always knows exactly what our hearts need—when we’re desperate for renewed hope, when we’re longing for extra prayers, and when we just need to feel seen and loved by others.
On our way home, we stopped for breakfast at a little waffle and pancake house in Charleston, Missouri. As we were finishing our meal, our waitress gently approached our table and shared something that brought us to tears—the older gentleman who had just left had quietly paid for our breakfast. A complete stranger, yet God used him to bless us in such a deeply meaningful way.
You all know the week we’ve had… so this act of kindness felt like a hug straight from heaven.
As we talked with our waitress, I explained why we were traveling, and she opened up about her own journey—how she lost her husband to cancer in 2019. She told us how they chose to live each day to the fullest after his diagnosis, just as our family does now. It was one of those moments when two paths cross for a reason only God could orchestrate. Another couple in the restaurant overheard and approached as well, sending us the rest of the way home with more prayers and $100.
We left that little restaurant with full hearts and tearful eyes, reminded again that even in the midst of heaviness, God continues to show up—in unexpected places and through the kindness of strangers.
God is so, so good. And His love never fails.
